Some digital rights violations require immediate legal intervention. Our rapid response mechanism supports individuals facing arrest, prosecution, intimidation, or other imminent injustices connected to the exercise of their digital rights.
Our team has supported more than 20 individuals arrested or prosecuted for digital rights-related offences, assisting them to obtain police bond, bail, and unconditional release. We continue to respond to contentious prosecutions and urgent violations involving digital health, privacy, online expression, and access to information, among others.
Digital Rights Rapid Legal Responses are currently available in Uganda.
Individuals or organisations seeking urgent assistance may share their name, the nature of the issue, whether the matter is before a court, the police, a regulator, or another authority, their location, and safe contact details. All requests are reviewed confidentially. The submission of a request does not automatically create a lawyer–client relationship or guarantee representation.
